I trained in Myofascial Release in order to deepen my understanding of how the body and mind work together. This cutting edge therapy explores the idea that our connective tissue stores trauma and tension from mental or physical repetitive strain.
Understanding the fascial system gives a whole new dimension to exercise and bodywork. It allows me to plan sessions with certain stretches and exercises into my classes that I know are working on a deep level and even more so with tailored plans and private clients.
As well as exercises to work on energy lines in the body, I use hands on techniques, foam rollers and other equipment to get the best out possible results and free up the fascia!
Sophie is trained in CORE® Fascial Release. She completed her training in 2013 with Noah Karrasch (USA), founder of the system. She is one of the very few people in the UK to have completed this training.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is fast gaining recognition as the missing link in traditional healthcare. Its holistic approach to releasing deep set pain, stress and tension; stored in the muscle and connective tissues of the body.
Fascia is the 3D web of connective tissue that runs throughout our bodies. Repetetive strain of either physical or emotional habits cause trauma to be trapped, constricting movement or being pulled out of alignment, causing pain.
Fascial restrictions arent visible on CAT scans, MRI’s or X Rays meaning many patients are suffering unresolved physical and emotional pain which is undiagnosed fascial trauma.
Where as Traditional healthcare treats the symptom, MFR treats the root cause, looking at lifestyle, or how thoughts, emotion and life events may be at work on a deep subconscious level.
MFR understands how imbalance develops without just putting a label on a present symptom. This allows for effective and long lasting relief, where the mind, body and person as a whole is healed, rather than just the superficial disfunction.
Therapists look for patterns in posture, movement and structure, as well as considering feelings and past experience, emotions and habits.
The fascial system has the ability to retain memory, storing energy. When this energy is released with help from the therapist, a healthy and fully functioning future is created. The body has the ability to remember postural positions, actions and emotions without the brain reminding it to do so.
Fascial Release Techniques are most beneficial on a private tuition basis. This may be through a one off session or block of sessions followed by a home program or continuing private practice. Contact Sophie to discuss your requirements.
